The Office for Environmental Protection (EPO) will be the cornerstone of our environmental governance system now that we have left the EU. As a new public body, our role is to promote the protection of the environment and improve the natural environment. Join us at the beginning of our journey and you will be critical to our success as we tackle the most pressing issues of our time, from climate change to biodiversity loss.
Reporting to our senior leadership and knowledge manager, you will oversee the natural science components of a legal report that responds to the government's annual report on the 25-year Environmental Plan. This plan establishes the commitment that this is the first generation to leave the environment in a better state than the one in which we inherited. It includes goals to improve air and water quality and the protection of many threatened plants, trees, and wildlife species.
Their role will be to provide natural science expertise and oversee the implementation of the plan. It will determine progress to date and advise on ways to improve. You will write compelling narratives and write high-quality reports, as well as lead and inspire a team.
We are looking for a proactive entrepreneur, with excellent analytical skills. You will be able to work collaboratively with stakeholders to build lasting relationships and demonstrate how analysis can improve policymaking. You will need a 2: 1-grade level qualification and, ideally, a graduate qualification in a natural science subject. Experience in writing technical reports and excellent leadership skills are also essential.
